Principal's Message
Welcome to Pio Pico Span School (Pre-kindergarten through 8th).  As principal, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website.  We are proud of our students, teachers, and educational programs.  We have a very supportive school community, an outstanding staff and great students.  Our teachers and staff, along with students and parents have common goals of providing what is best for our students.  I am proud to be a part of such a positive learning environment.

Beginning in January 2009, Pio Pico Span School will implement a comprehensive intervention plan to address the achievement and behavioral needs for all of its students.  Our goals reflect staff commitment and enthusiasm in moving towards a culture of high expectations for all students at Pio Pico.  The seven essential points listed below will be our guiding principles.
  • Integration of Pio Pico's vision with a philosophy and mission that refelect the intellectual and developmental needs and characteristics of young children through adolescence.
  • Implementation of an educational program that is comprehensive, challenging, purposeful, integrated, relevant, and standard-based.
  • Development of an organization and structure that supports academic excellence and social-emotional growth.
  • Delivery of classroom instruction, appropriate to the diverse needs and characteristics of children and young adolescents, provided by skilled and knowledgeable teachers, with fidelity to the core curriculum.
  • Strong educational leadership that encourages, facilitates, and sustains involvement, participation and guidance in development of a learning community.
  • Implementation of a multi-tiered network of academic and behavior supports available for all students, and monitored for response to intervention.
  • Involvement by all staff in professional learning activities and staff development programs that are purposeful, collaboratively developed, and promote the creation of a learning community.
Thank you so much for being a part of our school community.
